Advanced Outpost Building Guide

To master advanced outpost building in, you must transition from simple resource gathering to complex, multi-system manufacturing hubs. Success relies on high-level skills, efficient logistics, and specialized production chains. 

1. Essential Advanced Skills

Before expanding your empire, invest in the Science skill tree to unlock high-tier modules and capabilities: 

• Outpost Engineering: Rank 4 allows for the construction of superior modules and reduces the resource cost for building them.
• Research Methods: Resources required to craft items and complete projects are reduced. At rank 4, sudden developments during research are twice as common.
• Planetary Habitation: Necessary for building outposts on extreme worlds (Inferno, Deep Freeze, etc.), which often contain rare resources like Vythinium.
• Outpost Management: Increases the number of cargo links, robots, and crew members you can assign, which is vital for large-scale automation.
• Special Projects: Required to research and craft high-end manufactured components used in the most advanced structures. 

2. Multi-Resource Hub Strategy

Advanced players focus on “split-biome” locations to extract 4–6 resources from a single outpost beacon: 

• Ideal Starter Hub: Bessel III-b (Bessel System) contains a precise location where three biomes overlap, allowing you to mine Aluminum, Iron, Nickel, and Cobalt simultaneously.
• Resource Diversity: Use Linnaeus IV-b or Fenman IV for advanced hubs that offer up to 8 resources, maximizing the efficiency of a single location. 

3. Advanced Logistics and Automation

Managing resource flow across systems is the most critical advanced task:

• Cargo Link – Intersystem: Use these to move resources between different star systems. Note that these require a constant supply of Helium-3 to operate.
• Daisy-Chaining: Create a “Main Hub” outpost where all resources from smaller “Feeder” outposts are sent. Link your feeder output to the link’s outgoing container and the hub’s incoming container to your storage silos.
